You’ll See
and Feel
Personalized care from a double board-certified plastic surgeon with more than 17 years of surgical experience.

Reaching your goal weight does not always restore a flatter abdomen after pregnancy, significant weight loss, or aging. A tummy tuck may be worth considering if you are in good health and still dealing with concerns such as:
Loose or hanging skin after pregnancy or weight loss
A persistent lower-belly bulge
Stretched or separated abdominal muscles
A midsection that looks disproportionate to the rest of your body
Stable weight and realistic expectations for surgery
No plans for future pregnancies
With a tummy tuck in Houston, Dr. Stanley Ogu removes excess skin, repairs weakened abdominal muscles when needed, and reshapes the abdomen around your natural proportions.

See how a tummy tuck can create a flatter, firmer abdomen and more balanced body contours. Explore real before-and-after results from Dr. Stan’s patients throughout the Houston area, including The Woodlands, Pearland, Sugar Land, and Katy, to better understand what may be possible for you.
Dr. Stan offers several tummy tuck techniques based on your needs and goals:
The most common technique, a full tummy tuck addresses the entire abdomen through an incision placed low between the hips. Dr. Stan can remove excess skin and fat, repair separated abdominal muscles, and reposition the belly button to create a firmer, flatter contour.
A mini tummy tuck is a less extensive option for patients whose concerns are limited to the area below the belly button. It uses a shorter incision and generally does not require the belly button to be repositioned.
An extended tummy tuck may be recommended for patients with significant skin laxity that continues around the sides of the body. The longer incision allows Dr. Stan to improve the abdomen, waistline, hips, and flanks for a more comprehensive result.
A drainless tummy tuck uses internal progressive-tension sutures to reduce the open space beneath the skin after surgery. This technique can eliminate the need for external drains and may offer a more convenient recovery experience for appropriate patients.

Dr. Stanley Ogu is board-certified in both plastic surgery and general surgery, with surgical training through Drexel University College of Medicine and Indiana University School of Medicine. He served as chief resident in both specialties and brings that broad surgical foundation to every body-contouring procedure.
His background allows him to evaluate more than loose skin alone, including abdominal muscle separation, fat distribution, scar placement, and the relationship between the abdomen and waist.
Houston patients choose Dr. Stan for:
Dual board certification in plastic surgery and general surgery
Chief-resident training in both surgical specialties
Advanced plastic and reconstructive surgery training at Indiana University
Experience with full, mini, extended, and drainless tummy tuck techniques
Precise diastasis recti repair when abdominal muscles have separated
Personalized planning based on skin laxity, anatomy, and body proportions
Careful attention to the waistline, belly button, incision placement, and surrounding contours
One-on-one guidance from consultation through recovery
Dr. Stan does not apply the same tummy tuck plan to every patient. He recommends the technique and level of correction that best match your anatomy, goals, and recovery needs.
Being unhappy with your abdomen does not automatically mean you are ready for surgery. Dr. Stan also considers your overall health, weight stability, smoking status, medications, previous surgeries, recovery support, and plans for future pregnancy before recommending a tummy tuck.
You may be a candidate if you:
Are physically healthy enough to undergo elective surgery
Are at a stable weight and not planning significant weight loss
Do not smoke or are prepared to stop before and after surgery
Have realistic expectations about scarring, recovery, and results
Can arrange help at home during the early stages of recovery
Are not planning a future pregnancy that could restretch the abdomen
Understand risks such as bleeding, infection, fluid buildup, delayed healing, blood clots, numbness, and unfavorable scarring
A tummy tuck may not be the best fit when the primary concern is isolated fat, which may respond better to liposuction, or when loose skin extends around the hips and back, which may require a body lift. Dr. Stan will review your health and anatomy to determine whether surgery is appropriate and which procedure offers the safest, most suitable approach.

“I cannot express enough how thrilled I am with the results of my procedures!”
A tummy tuck reshapes your midsection by removing excess skin and tightening weakened abdominal muscles. Dr. Stan performs the procedure under general anesthesia to create a firmer, flatter contour.
During your procedure, he will:
Make a low, horizontal incision just above the pubic area for discreet placement
Repair and tighten separated abdominal muscles
Remove loose, stretched skin
Use liposuction when needed to enhance definition and contour
Reposition the belly button for a natural appearance
Close the incision with sutures and apply a compression garment to support healing
Most tummy tucks take 2–4 hours, depending on the extent of correction and whether additional contouring is performed.

Tummy tuck recovery happens gradually, with swelling, tightness, and limited mobility improving over several weeks. Following Dr. Stan’s aftercare instructions, wearing your compression garment, and allowing your body time to heal are essential to achieving the best possible result.
During recovery, here is what you can expect:
Week 1
Rest is the priority. You may feel tightness and soreness and will need to limit movement while wearing your compression garment as directed.
Weeks 2–4
Most patients begin moving more comfortably and returning to light daily activities, although lifting, strenuous exercise, and abdominal strain should still be avoided.
Weeks 6-8
You may gradually resume more demanding activity and exercise once Dr. Stan confirms that your healing is progressing safely.
Around 3 Months
Most swelling has subsided, and your abdomen begins to look flatter, firmer, and more defined.
6-12 Months
Your scar continues to fade and soften as your final tummy tuck results become fully established.
Your results can be long-lasting when supported by a stable weight and healthy lifestyle. While future weight changes or pregnancy can affect your abdominal contour, many patients continue to enjoy a smoother, tighter midsection for years.

Tummy tuck costs in Houston often range from approximately $8,000 to $18,000, depending on the technique, extent of correction, and whether liposuction or other procedures are included. Your total cost may also include anesthesia, facility fees, postoperative garments, and follow-up care.
As with any surgery, a tummy tuck carries potential risks, including bleeding, infection, fluid buildup, delayed healing, scarring, changes in sensation, and complications related to anesthesia. Dr. Stan will review these risks with you and take careful precautions to support a safe procedure and recovery.
A tummy tuck is not a weight loss procedure but a body contouring surgery that removes excess skin and tightens abdominal muscles. Ideal candidates should be at or near their goal weight. If you’re struggling to reach a stable weight for your tummy tuck procedure, we offer personalized medical weight loss plans to help you achieve your goals.
Yes. Dr. Stan creates smooth, balanced contours that complement your natural shape, avoiding an overdone or tight appearance.
A tummy tuck does involve a low, horizontal scar, but Dr. Stan carefully places the incision just above the pubic area so it can be easily concealed beneath underwear or swimwear. Scars also fade significantly over time with proper care.
